Gabriella Minnes Brandes, PhD, has been teaching the Alexander Technique since 1988. She has maintained an active practice at the Alexander Technique Centre in Vancouver since 1990. She has been invited to run Alexander workshops for musicians, singers, and horseback riders, engineers (among others) as well as workshops for Alexander teachers. She teaches Alexander Technique in the Theatre department at Capilano University. Gaby is currently conducting research on the intricate connections between musicians and the Alexander Technique. Interviewing many musicians who have had Alexander lessons, Gaby records and analyzes how Alexander Technique enhances the musicians’ awareness of their habits and their possibilities for change. Member of STAT, CANSTAT and AmSAT. Gaby is the co-director of the Vancouver School of the Alexander Technique. She also holds a Ph.D. in education.
